- Malformazioni delle vie aeree superiori e inferiori

Riassunto. Le malformazioni congenite delle basse vie aeree e dei polmoni sono anomalie rare, gravate a tutt’oggi da un’elevata morbilità e mortalità. L’esordio è variabile. Alla nascita alcune sono asintomatiche causando problemi solo nel corso dei primi mesi od anni di vita, altre sono sintomatiche già in utero. Anche i sintomi sono estremamente variabili, da una modesta difficoltà respiratoria alla morte improvvisa. Di seguito vengono descritte le caratteristiche cliniche fondamentali delle principali malformazioni e le loro modalità diagnostiche. Inoltre vengono esposti i principi del loro trattamento. I risultati sono migliori laddove è presente un’esperta équipe multidisciplinare.

Summary. Congenital malformations of lower airways are rare anomalies, characterized by an elevated morbidity and mortality. The onset may vary substantially. At birth, some of them are asymptomatic, leading to problems later on within the first months or years of life, while others are symptomatic already in utero. Symptoms are also quite variable, ranging from a modest respiratory difficulty to sudden death. Herewith we describe the clinical features of the most common malformations and their diagnostic modalities. In addition, we outline their treatment modality. The best results are most oftenly achieved where there is intervention of multidisciplinary teams.
